Cleanse Your Colon to Lose Weight: Stop Relying on Processed Foods

Everything we put in our bodies goes through our colon. Not everything we put in our bodies is healthy though. While some environmental factors also affect the colon, it is essential that we are aware of the pollutants we are putting in our bodies through what we eat. It is these same foods that are causing diseases and making us fat.

Processed foods are not easy for our bodies to digest. Some contain harmful chemicals that linger in our bodies long after we eat them. Pesticides, stress, overeating or not eating enough all contribute to an unhealthy bowel. Feeling constipated, sluggish or not being able to think clearly are signs that you need a colon cleanse. Being overweight is another sign, but there is a simple way to get rid of these toxins and feel better.

While there are products available to do colon cleanses at home or you can see a homeopathic doctor for a colon cleanse, the easiest way to cleanse your colon is to change your eating habits. You don’t need to go on a detox diet or drink lemon juice for a week and you don’t need to see a specialist. You do need to change your eating habits though and make healthier food choices.

The first step towards better health is to stop eating processed foods. Eat foods that are as close to their natural form as possible. Bulk up on lean meats, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. You can cleanse your colon and lose weight simply by including the following items in your diet regularly:

  • Water
  • Raw vegetables
  • Garlic
  • Red pepper
  • Ginger
  • Flax seed
  • Omega-3 rich foods
  • Whole grains
  • Fresh fruit

Just as it is important to include certain foods in your diet, there are certain foods to avoid when your focus is to cleanse your colon. The following is a list of foods to avoid when cleansing your colon and losing weight:

  • Dairy products
  • Soy products
  • Processed meats
  • Sugar
  • White flour and baked goods
  • Butter and oil
  • Salt
  • Caffeine

Instead of eating these foods, eat foods that are natural. Prepackaged foods generally contain ingredients that prevent weight loss and can have a negative effect on your organs. Animal fats are equally bad for your health. Stick to lean meats and avoid using too much butter or fat when cooking. Concentrate on eating foods that have a very short ingredient list or none at all (like lean meats and produce.) give your body what it needs and it will cleanse itself, making weight loss easier and allowing you to feel healthier.
