Proactiv is a three-step acne prevention system that consists of a facial scrub, a toner and a repair lotion. All three products are intended for use two times a day, in the morning and at night.

The Proactiv renewing cleanser is applied first. This scrub contains prescription grade benzoyl peroxide that works to dry out oily blemishes and prevent bacteria from clogging pores. It includes tiny granules that exfoliate skin during the cleansing process.

The Proactiv revitalizing toner uses glycolic acid to eliminate acne-causing oils and bacteria. It also helps to exfoliate dead skin cells.

The final step in the Proactiv system is the repairing treatment. The repairing treatment is an oil free lotion that contains benzoyl peroxide. The treatment is applied to the face and then left on the skin until another treatment is applied. The benzoyl peroxide helps to keep skin from becoming oily and it helps to eliminate bacteria.

Aloette Simply Clear Acne Prevention Program

Aloette is a skin-care line that uses aloe in all of its products to soothe and calm the skin. The Aloette Simply Clear acne treatment is a four-step system that includes a cleansing scrub, a toner, a spot treatment and a moisturizer.

The Clarifying Facial Wash is the first step in the Simply Clear acne treatment system. The wash uses small granules to exfoliate the skin and alpha and beta hydroxy acids help to eliminate excess oil and reduce blemishes.

The Clarifying Deep-Action Toner is applied next. The toner includes aloe and vitamins A, C and E to soothe and heal the skin. The toner should be swabbed onto the face using a cotton ball.

Simply Clear’s Acne Spot Treatment Cream is applied directly to pimples for the next step. The spot treatment uses sulfur, glycolic acid and salicylic acid to dry out pimples and reduce bacteria in pores. The spot treatment can be applied by finger by dabbing a small amount on each pimple.

Finally, Aloette’s Clarifying Balance Oil-Free Moisturizer is applied to help skin stay moisturized without clogging pores. This moisturizer keeps skin from becoming too dry and producing more acne-causing oil.

Neutrogena Complete Acne Therapy System

The Complete Acne Therapy System is a three-step program that includes a scrubbing facial wash, an oil-control lotion and an oil free sunscreen. Much like Proactiv, the system is intended to be used once in the morning and once in the evening.

The Skin Polishing Acne Cleanser exfoliates skin with tiny granules and helps to treat acne with salicylic acid. This first step in the Neutrogena system helps to remove dead skin and medicate skin to prevent excess oil.

The Acne Control Lotion is applied next and includes the active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is also used in Proactiv. It works to reduce bacteria in the pores and to prevent acne by reducing oil.

Finally, the Neutrogena system also includes an oil-free SPF 15 lotion to help protect medicated skin from excess drying from the sun. This step can be skipped when applying the product before bedtime.

Find the Right Home Remedy for Acne

All of the products above provide acne treatment at home. Acne sufferers will have to determine which product is the best acne treatment for his or her skin. By reviewing how the products treat and cure acne, consumers can find a program that puts an end to acne problems.
